What If It Came Out Today? — the box-office time machine
Every gross is trapped in its own era's ticket prices. Drop any film into any year and see what it would really make — the apples-to-apples no chart shows you. Jaws in 2026 dollars? Avatar in 1939?
Try:
Jaws (1975) — actually grossed $260,000,000. (128,159,700 tickets, which is how the years get compared)
2026
Jaws (1975) at 2026 ticket prices (provisional price):$1,532,790,0125.9× its actual $260,000,000 run.
Jaws (1975) would gross $1,532,790,012 if it opened in 2026.
Method: the classic site's real adjusted method, run in both directions instead of only to today. A gross is trapped in its own era's ticket prices, so to move it you divide by what a ticket cost then and multiply by what it costs in the year you picked. (The number in between is tickets sold — a working step, not the point.)
